Man Tased, Arrested After Washington Co. Police Chase

SOUTH STRABANE TOWNSHIP (KDKA) – A man is in custody after leading police on a chase through Washington County Sunday night.

According to police, the incident began when a Pennsylvania State Police trooper stopped a 1997 Ford Ranger on Interstate 70 near Jefferson Avenue.

The driver, David Reilly, 41, of Washington, initially pulled over. However, as the trooper exited his vehicle, Reilly took off.

Reilly led police on a chase north to Interstate 79 at speeds of 70 MPH. He then got off at the Meadowlands exit and reentered Interstate 79 on the southbound side.

Troopers deployed spike strips and successfully punctured three of the vehicle's tires. In Canton Township, the front two tires came off, but Reilly continued to drive on the rims.

Eventually, Reilly ditched the vehicle near the Cozy Corner Bar on Euclid Avenue. A short foot chase ensued and troopers used a Taser to arrest Reilly.

Reilly is facing a list of charges including DUI, fleeing and eluding, reckless endangerment and resisting arrest.

He is currently being lodged in the Washington County Jail.
