Medical Frontiers: Rheumatology

PITTSBURGH (NewsRadio 1020 KDKA) — On this week's edition of Medical Frontiers, KDKA Radio's Robert Mangino and Dr. Gerald Pifer welcomed Dr. Anisha Dua to discuss rheumatology.

Dr. Dua is a rheumatologist at AGH and West Penn Hospital, including the Lupus Center of Excellence.

The doctor's discussed several components arthritis can be triggered by.

They also discussed the importance of being thoroughly tested before assuming symptoms are linked to arthritis.

"Swelling and pain of hands and knees may not be arthritis, there are a lot of factors that must be considered for a proper diagnosis, like exactly what is triggering the pain, several tests must be done as well," said Dr. Dua.

Medication coupled with therapy can help alleviate pain that comes with arthritis.
