Summer Heat Is Leaving Some Pittsburghers Miserable

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- People are doing what they can to beat the heat as Pittsburgh braces for a week of hot days.

Ashley Pratt of Penn Hills was disappointed when she showed up at the Boyce Park Wave Pool only to find that it had closed for the day because of an electrical problem.

It's expected to reopen Tuesday.

People without air conditioning in their cars found today particularly miserable. One man told us that it was "brutal." Another said his car had baked all day as at it sat in the sun while he worked.

Doctors urge people to drink plenty of liquids in this kind of weather, and if you don't have air conditioning, get away to an air conditioned mall or movie theater for some relief.

The coolest place around town Monday night may have been inside Consol Energy Center.

Men and women were trying out for the Ice Crew athletic team which promotes the Pens at games and events. Judges inside the facility had their jackets on.
