Water Main Break Leaves Some Green Tree Residents Without Water

GREEN TREE (KDKA) -- It's a hot day, a real sizzler, but some folks in Green Tree can't quench their thirst, at least not from their faucets.

Pennsylvania American Water crews had their work cut out for them.

They had to repair and eight-inch water line in the scorching heat. It happened on Greentree Road at the intersection of Oriole Drive.

About 50 customers were left dry around 6 a.m., including the manager of Greentree Hardware, who was forced to fill buckets from the water buffalo placed in his lot by Pennsylvania American Water.

Above the hardware store are other businesses, including dental offices where patient appointments had to be cancelled.

Water crews, working since around 8 a.m., hope to have water restored by 7 p.m.
