2 Killed In Wrong-Way Crash On Parkway North

OHIO TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- Two people are dead after a person drove the wrong way on the Parkway North in Ohio Township Monday night.

According to police, the accident happened after 8 p.m. on the southbound side of Interstate 279 when a wrong-way driver hit another car head-on.

The southbound side of the Parkway North was shut down for hours about two miles before the Camp Horne Road exit.

First responders had to use the Jaws of Life to get the victims out of the vehicles.

Pennsylvania State Police released the names of the victims early Tuesday morning.

The wrong-way driver has been identified as Amy Tua, 45, of Harmony. The other driver has been identified as Gary Helba, 42, of Pittsburgh.

Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

It's unknown how Tua was able to travel in the wrong direction. Toxicology results are pending and the crash remains under investigation.
