PITTSBURGH (KDKA 93-7 The Fan)- The Web.com Tour returns to the Southpointe Golf Club the week of July 29.

Practice rounds begin Monday, with the first round on Thursday, August 1.

Web.com Tour Commissioner Bill Calfee told Mike Dudurich on The Fan Golf Show that it’s a great event with a unique twist.

“We wanted to do something a little bit different,” Calfee said. “With Columbus having that eligibility of the college and amateur top players, we thought it’d be a great place to take that eligibility, put it at Mylan, give them something unique so that they’ve got 12 of the top amateur players coming to Pittsburgh.”

Recently, a golfer shot a 59 on the Web.com Tour, marking the second time that has happened this year on the Tour. Calfee told Dudurich that it says a lot about the quality of the golfers.

“These things come in bunches,” Calfee said. “It’s exciting. It’s a testament I think to how good these players are. They’re just getting better every day, and of course the course conditions are absolutely phenomenal, so I’m not surprised.”
