Rain Doesn't Keep Fans Away From Steelers Training Camp

LATROBE (KDKA) -- The rain didn't put much of a damper on the excitement of Steelers' fans who watched the team take the field at Saint Vincent College Saturday for the first open practice of 2013 Training Camp.

A drum line played as the team walked through the large crowd of eagerly-waiting, lined up fans to the field.

The storm did get quite heavy at one point, forcing the team inside and the fans to run for cover.

But by all accounts, there was excellent fan attendance for the Saturday practice. Many fans traveled long distances to be there.

"Fourteen hundreds miles to training camp," said Ralph Dunmire, of Aurora, Colo. "I have a message for the Steelers; I want to tell them, welcome back and let's have a super season. Ignore the doubters."

While some aren't so optimistic about this year's team, fans at training camp say they're excited for the season to get underway.

"They're going to go all the way, that's what we're going to do," Kevin Roundtree, of Atlantic City, N.J. "This is going to be number seven. We got six, so we might as well add a seventh."

After the thunderstorm passed over, the Steelers were back out on the field. They wrapped up non-contact drills just before 6 p.m.
