Range Resources Purchases 180 Natural Gas Vehicles

PITTSBURGH (NewsRadio 1020 KDKA)- Matt Pittzarella of Range Resources joined KDKA's Robert Mangino, to discuss the recent purchase Range Resources made for 180 natural gas powered vehicles.

"We are the largest single commercial order for bi-fuel natural gas vehicles for Chrysler and General Motors," said Pittzarella.

Range Resources began discussions for natural gas vehicles in fall of 2012. The vehicles took three months to build. They are engineered by both GM and Chrysler.

"We convinced ourselves, we convinced anyone that natural gas vehicles are a great idea, and we started telling ourselves why not us? If everyone else, why don't we participate in this?" said Pitzerella.

The vehicles were built directly for employees of Range Resources. Waste Management's Arden Landfill facility is where some of the vehicles are being fueled. Compressed natural gas sells for half the price of gasoline. Range Resources looks forward to the fuel savings.
