Steelers GM Colbert: Youngsters Must Step Up

PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - Pittsburgh Steelers General Manager Kevin Colbert drops by for a visit with Vinnie & Cook live from Latrobe on Sportsradio 93.7 The Fan.

Colbert provides a preview of the team at this point, and compares it to last year's squad.

"You're going to see different players," he says. "You'll see a younger offensive line. You'll see a different group of receivers and running backs. I think the whole storyline in my mind coming out of this camp is how quickly these young guys are going to help us, because we need them to."

Last year's team finished out of the playoffs, a result that still stings Colbert.

"When we finished 8-8 last year, I was first and foremost responsible for that team," he says. "Nothing against that group of players, but that group of players that I helped put together was an 8-8 team, and it wasn't good enough. We felt we had to make changes. We felt we had to get younger in certain positions. We hope this group is better than that."

Colbert also reveals what is on his daily to-do list during training camp, and explains why Alameda Ta'Amu still has a roster spot. Listen to the entire interview below!
