Teenager Injured In Rennerdale Accident

RENNERDALE (KDKA) -- A teenage boy was taken to the hospital after he was hit by a car in Rennerdale this afternoon.

According to emergency dispatchers, the crash happened in the 100-block of Noblestown Road at Sunnyside Avenue. It happened around 4 p.m.

Police say the boy was having an argument with his mother, and she was trying to leave in the car.

"She went out, got in the car to leave," said Chief Thomas Devin, of Collier Township Police. "The son supposedly followed her out, jumped on the car, broke the windshield either before or during as she was pulling out of the driveway. She went down the road, and as she got down the road, he was still on the car. She stopped or went to stop, hit the gas instead of the brake, went forward, he fell off the car and she ran over top of him."

"She was panicking; she didn't know what to do," Joe Macari, a witness, said. "All she kept saying was, 'someone call 911, someone call 911.'"

The teenager had to be freed from under the car. He was taken to the hospital.

Police say they have been called to the home in the past for domestic disputes.

Police are investigating to determine if charges will be filed against the mother.
