Police: Thief Steals More Than $113,000 From Squirrel Hill Home

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Pittsburgh Police say a man who makes "rap beats" for famous musicians, including rapper Wiz Khalifa, had more than $113,000 worth of jewelry and other items stolen from his home.

Police say the robbery happened Wednesday morning at 1224 Dennison Street in Squirrel Hill.

The victim, 21-year-old Isaac Cameron, says 19 items were stolen from his home, including diamond rings, watches, bracelets, and a laptop containing several "beat mixes" for famous musicians.

Police say Cameron picked up the suspect, 19-year-old Tariq Rasiq Mahdi, and took him to the house.

They say Mahdi took the jewelry and other items, stuffing them into a backpack, and then fled.

But by Thursday afternoon, Cameron was leaving his home in his car saying Mahdi had sent him a text message with pictures of all of the stolen goods on the floor of his kitchen on the North Side, and said he wanted to give the stuff back.

Mahdi is a known gang member from the North Side who was just released from prison on gun charges, and has an extensive criminal record.

Police say Mahdi is a black man, 5' 8" tall, with brown hair, brown eyes, and a short curly goatee. He wears glasses, and was last seen wearing a gold backpack with black pants.

If you have any information on the suspect, call Pittsburgh Police.

But police say if the items are returned and Cameron doesn't want to press charges, then the case is over.
