Bomb Squad Called To New Castle Bank Robbery

NEW CASTLE (KDKA) – The Allegheny Bomb Squad had to be called to the scene of a bank robbery in New Castle.

According to police, the incident took place about 11:30 a.m. at First National Bank on Harlansburg Road.

Police say the man walked in, demanded money, and was carrying some sort of package with him.

Surveillance photos show the man wearing a stocking mask, and a Cleveland Indians baseball hat.

The suspect is described as being a white male about 50 to 60-years-old.

The suspect allegedly left a backpack in the bank, which prompted the Bomb Squad to be called. They responded and deemed the package to be harmless.

The power was shut off to the bank as a precaution.
