Connellsville Man Accidentally Shoots And Kills His Own Cousin

FAYETTE COUNTY (KDKA) – Police say a Connellsville man accidentally shot and killed his cousin with her new gun.

Police say 23-year-old Kylie Sage was in the front seat of a Ford F250 pickup truck showing off her new .45 caliber ruger.

Her cousin, Jeremy Hamborsky, 24, was in the back seat and asked to see the gun.

Trooper Stefani Plume said, "They were looking at the gun, since it was a new purchase. The man in the backseat asked to see the weapon, and asked her if it was loaded, which she said it was not. He then pulled the trigger, in which it discharged, killing her."

State Police say this tragedy can be a reminder that people need to make sure that when they purchase a weapon, they need to make sure it isn't loaded.

Hamborsky has been charged with involuntary manslaughter, he is scheduled for a preliminary hearing later this week.
