2 Arrested After Stealing Copper Pipe From Latrobe High School

LATROBE (KDKA) – Two men were arrested after allegedly stealing copper pipe from a construction site at the Latrobe High School.

According to police, the two men broke into a building at the school around 1 a.m. on Aug. 9.

Once inside the building, both men began stealing power tools and ripping out installed copper pipes.

While fleeing the scene on foot, a Pennsylvania State Police midnight patrol spotted the men and stopped them. However, both ran in an attempt to evade police.

One of the men, Nicholas Grasmick, 25, of Latrobe, was Tased and arrested at the scene. The other suspect, Marcus Grasmick, 21, of Latrobe, was arrested at home on Aug. 12.

Nicholas was taken to the Westmoreland County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bond.

Meanwhile, Marcus was on parole for unrelated charges and was taken to the Westmoreland County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bond.

Police said the men likely caused thousands of dollars worth of damage.
