Family Asks For Help Finding Missing Connellsville Man

WESTMORELAND COUNTY (KDKA) -- A Westmoreland County mother is making an emotional plea for the safe return of her son.

Helen Hazen says her son left her Jeannette house last week and she hasn't heard from him since.

Craig Galasso, 23, told his mother he was going to visit friends before returning to the house in Connellsville where he lives with his uncle.

"He'll go off and he'll wander off and walk around," Hazen said, "but he's never been gone like this, he always calls. He'll find a way if he don't have a phone -- he'll find a way to call me."

Galasso has a long history of mental problems and does not have his medication.

Family members say he has the IQ of a 5-year-old.

Family members believed Galasso may have been camping in the woods near 10th and Gaskill in Jeannette and asked police to search the area after finding a blanket he took from home.

"We attempted to gain a scent pad off of that blanket with our K-9," said Jeannette Police Patrolman Justin Scalzo, "and attempted to track to see where he may be at."

Police searched on foot with a K-9, but the search was not successful.

Galasso has four brothers and one sister. He also has a daughter who will be four in November. He was supposed to see her last week, but never showed up for the visit.

If you have seen Craig Galasso or have info about his whereabouts you should contact Jeannette Police.
