Hill District Shooting Leaves 2 Injured

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Two people were wounded when gunfire rang out during a memorial in the Hill District on Saturday evening to mark a murder in the same place one year ago.

The shooting happened around 7:30 p.m. on Bedford Avenue at the steps of the Ammon Recreation Center.

Authorities say a memorial was being held there to remember 17-year-old Harold Young who was shot and killed in the same place in August of 2012.

According to police, an argument broke out and then shots were fired.

One victim was shot in the leg. He is being treated at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital and is in stable condition.

The other victim was wounded in the torso. He was driven to UPMC Mercy Hospital and is in critical but stable condition.

The shooter fled.

But police say one person was taken into custody after taking the second victim to Mercy Hospital. According to investigators, weapons were found inside that person's vehicle.

That person is being charged with weapon violations, resisting arrest and attempting to escape.

Police continue to look for a suspect in the shooting. The investigation continues.
