Possible Lightning Strike Prompts Evacuation At Edgewood Elementary School

EDGEWOOD (KDKA) – Crews are working to repair a crack in a smokestack at the Edgewood Elementary School that may have been caused by a lightning strike.

According to officials at the scene, the school was evacuated Wednesday and the students were taken to the high school. Students were expected to be taken home on their normal buses at their normal time.

Engineers inspected the crack and have started making emergency repairs.

School is expected to be in session as usual on Thursday.

There are no reported injuries.
