Congemi: Pitt Has To Control The Line of Scrimmage

PITTSBURGH (KDKA 93-7 The Fan)-The Pitt Panthers open their inaugural season in the ACC Labor Day night at Heinz Field against Florida State.

ESPN College Football Analyst John Congemi was the last Pitt quarterback to play against Florida State. He talked about the game on The Fan Morning Show. In particular, Congemi remembered a key eight-minute drive.

The current Pitt quarterback, Tom Savage, will be making his first start since 2010 when he played at Rutgers.

Congemi says he doesn't think that the layoff will be an issue.

"This is his last opportunity to play college football," Congemi said. "I think he'll enjoy and embrace the moment and enjoy the spotlight that's on him."

Congemi says he believes that for the Panthers to have a chance of pulling the upset, they will have to win in the trenches.

"You're going to try to make big plays in this football game," Congemi said. "But for Pitt to stay in this game and win, they have to control the line of scrimmage."
