Monroeville Woman Wants Her Designs In Walmart

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- America's largest department store chain is on the hunt for entrepreneurs.

Website votes are being tabulated for a range of new products in Walmart's "Get on the Shelf" contest.

In her Monroeville apartment, Charlene Cunningham hopes to win as she designs clothing with a message.

"I took an ordinary shoe," she says, "and put 'Walk for God' on it."

The three-word message appears in several places on each shoe. The designer hopes her efforts can garner enough votes to "get on the shelf" at Walmart.

Cunningham is associate minister at King of Kings Baptist Church in Garfield.

"As a minister, I see a lot of people that are hurting," she says. "And they need to know God loves them.

She sells the apparel at events for church events. But a win at Walmart, she says, would be a Godsend.

"They can go online, punch in www.getontheshelf/walkforGod and vote," Cunningham says.
