Pirates To Be Featured On Sports Illustrated Cover
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Curse or no curse, the Pittsburgh Pirates are going to be on the national cover of Sports Illustrated.
The magazine announced the Pirates "magical season" has landed them on the cover of the September 9th issue.
The magazine says the cover will feature a picture of centerfielder and MVP candidate Andrew McCutchen.
In July all-star closer Jason Grilli was featured on the cover.
After Tuesday's win over the Brewers, the Pirates secured their first non-losing season since 1992.
Another win Wednesday would secure their first winning season.
Sports Illustrated says the magazine article will feature the "team's two-decade long streak of futility and its relationship with the city."
