Morton: "I Was Too Analytical"

PITTSBURGH (KDKA 93-7 The Fan)- Pirates pitcher Charlie Morton has been a key part of the Pirates rotation as the club is in the stretch drive.

Entering the weekend, Morton has not lost a start since Aug. 1.

Vinnie Richichi asked if it was possible for Morton to be better after his Tommy John surgery.

"I think with me it's difficult to say that, because it wasn't until 2011 where I started to have an identity of who I was and what worked for me on a consistent basis," Morton said.

Things haven't always been easy for Morton. Morton struggled in 2010, when he posted a 2-12 record with a 7.57 ERA.

"If I have a regret, it's that I was too analytical," he said. "And at the same time, I was too vocal about it to people that really didn't really need to know."
