KDKA-TV's Bob Pompeani Discusses A.J. Burnett Clubhouse Blowup
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - KDKA-TV's Bob Pompeani went into the Pirates clubhouse today and attempted to talk with Pirates starter A.J. Burnett about his blowup on the field yesterday over the Pirates defensive shifts, and it didn't go over very well.
"Nobody was approaching A.J., so I decided I wanted to approach him, why not?" Pompeani said. "I just went up to him and I said, 'Excuse me A.J., do you got a minute to talk about the road trip and yesterday?'"
"Obviously, the guy is still upset about what happened or whatever is the case, and he went on this tirade," Pompeani added. "He started flailing his hands and I said, 'Dude, I'm just asking a question yes or no. If you don't want to talk, that's fine with me.' I can't tell you exactly what he said because it's G-radio here, but basically that he's not upset with Barmes, it's about the shifting."
Pompeani points out that Burnett appeared to be upset that these questions were even asked and adds that despite the interaction, he still stands behind the opinion he has always held on Burnett that he is good for this team.
