Officials Identify Man Hit & Killed By Train In Beaver Falls

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. (KDKA/AP) - A man who was struck and killed by a train over the weekend in Beaver County has been identified.

According to emergency dispatchers, the accident happened on the Norfolk Southern tracks near the 15th Street Crossing in Beaver Falls around 1 p.m. on Saturday.

Norfolk Southern spokesman Dave Pidgeon said the conductor blew a warning whistle before the man was struck.

The victim has been identified as 29-year-old James M. Cole Jr. He died as a result of blunt force trauma to the head and chest.

Pidgeon said the train was hauling mixed freight and consisted of 102 cars and three locomotives.

Police are investigating the death.
