Police Arrest 3, Including Man With Baby, During Heroin Bust At Beechview Duplex
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Three men were busted Wednesday for allegedly dealing heroin out of one-half of a Section 8 duplex on Palm Beach Avenue in Beechview.
One of the men, identified as 21-year-old Christopher Highsmith, was holding a baby boy in his arms in a red Cadillac parked outside the house.
There were drugs in the vehicle and inside the building addressed 2417, according to police. It began around 1 p.m.
"I heard a couple of booms," said Rose Truan, a neighbor. "I was in the house, my husband was outside."
Setting off a flash-bang device to stun the suspects, the city SWAT team and narcotics detectives swarmed the building.
They recovered at least 200 stamped bags of heroin, 85 doses of oxycodone and $2,800 in cash.
Neighbors tell KDKA's Mary Robb Jackson that alleged drug dealing has been going on at that address for a year.
Police got warrants based on those neighborhood complaints.
"It's a nice neighborhood, but what can you do?" said Truan. "You have neighborhoods where bad people move in, and that's it, and hopefully they get them out."
