1 Killed, 1 Injured In Somerset Co. Crash

CONFLUENCE BOROUGH (KDKA) -- One man was killed and another was seriously injured following a crash in Somerset County.

The one-vehicle accident happened around 9 p.m. Friday along Route 281 in Confluence Borough.

According to state police, 59-year-old Charles Lancaster of Addison, Pa., was headed south on Route 281 in his 2008 Ford Focus when he failed to navigate a curve in the road.

The car hit a guide rail, went over an embankment and then flipped upside on its roof.

Lancaster was pronounced dead at the scene.

His passenger, identified by state police as 27-year-old Jeffery Nicholson of Confluence, was taken by medical helicopter to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center with major injuries.

There's been no word on his condition.
