MLB Network's Darryl Hamilton: 'This Is The Way It's Supposed To Be'

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan)- MLB Network analyst and former Major Leaguer Darryl Hamilton joined The Fan Morning Show on Tuesday to preview the NLDS between the Pirates and Cardinals.

"This is how it's supposed to be," Hamilton said. "These are the two best teams that deserve to be here."

He says this should be a great series and he does give a slight edge to the Cardinals because they have been here before. That being said, he was surprised to see six rookies in the Cards' bullpen.

Hamilton says the first time you are in the playoffs really is overwhelming. He experienced it for the first time after his ninth season and it still was that way for him. He says it will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Hamilton said he was proud of the Pirates fans for showing up and getting into Johnny Cueto's head in the Wild Card game in Pittsburgh. He said the fans have a responsibility too and the Pirates fans did a tremendous job.

That Wild Card win could help the Pirates moving forward because they are in a groove because of the way they have played playoff-type baseball each night for the month of September.

Hamilton says that Pirates Manager Clint Hurdle has played a huge role with this team in the way he provides leadership and can help these guys to be prepared to play each night. He said that Hurlde saved his career because he spent so much time helping him and guiding him. He said in baseball you need a guy in your corner and Hurdle is that guy for his players.

He thinks this will be a great series and no matter what happens, he is impressed where the Pirates are today from where they were a couple of years ago.
