Suspected DUI Crash Injures Woman, 2 Kids

CANTON TOWNSHIP (KDKA) – A mother suspected of driving under the influence was injured in a Washington County crash along with two young children.

According to police, the crash happened in the 2100-block of West Chestnut Street around 10 p.m. Saturday.

The woman has been identified as 31-year-old Stacy Lee Skariot.

Skariot was traveling west on State Route 40 when she lost control and went off the roadway. After traveling off the road for about 100 feet, the vehicle struck a guardrail and then a tree.

After striking the tree, the vehicle slid down an embankment, which caused it  to roll over at least one time.

When police arrived, they found Skariot allegedly under the influence of both pills and alcohol.

An open bottle of Bud Light was found inside the vehicle along with 113 Xanax pills and 14 Ambien pills.

Skariot was flown to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital with moderate injuries. Skariot was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.

The two boys in the car, ages 8 and 9, were flown to Children's Hospital with severe injuries. Both boys were not safely restrained in the required booster seats.
