Police Investigating 2 Route 40 Robberies

CENTERVILLE BOROUGH (KDKA) – Police in Washington and Fayette Counties are looking into two overnight robberies along Route 40.

In the surveillance video released by police, the suspect can be seen with a white bandana on his face, armed with a tire iron inside the GetGo on Route 40 in Centerville Borough, Washington County. He was able to get away with a small amount of cash.

While Centerville Borough Police were beginning their investigation, they learned that about 30 minutes earlier, someone matching the same description entered the Sweet Pea Convenience Store just a few miles away in Redstone Township, Fayette County.

It was unclear if the man got away with anything in that incident.

However, police say that surveillance cameras at Sweet Pea's captured a getaway car, which was possibly a silver minivan.

Police described the suspect as a white man, wearing red gym shorts and a black-hooded sweatshirt.

Police also took a close look at how the suspect put his hand down on the counter and was not wearing gloves. State police tried to lift prints and are waiting for any results.

The next step for police is trying to learn the identity of the suspect.

Centerville Borough police released the picture above of the suspect. Anyone with information on the robbery is asked to call them at (724)-785-9210 or contact Washington County 911.
