Three Men Wanted In Connection With Homewood Robbery And Murder

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Police are still trying to find three-men wanted in the robbery and shooting of a man along the East Busway.

Investigators say Omar Islam, of the North Side, was an innocent victim.

His name meant "long life" and "peace," but both of those blessings were denied to Omar Islam.

The body of the 21-year-old was found lying in an East Busway shelter at the North Homewood stop Tuesday night.

Police say he'd been robbed and shot to death.

Police screening surveillance camera video saw three-men, one acting as a lookout, the other two pushing Omar, robbing him - and opening fire.

"Oh my God - and he's all alone...by himself."

Chelse Schrecengost, of Observatory Hill, had known Omar since 7th grade at Rooney Middle School.

"He would charm you - you would love him. He didn't deserve this."

Omar Islam spent his last day helping his Mom, Jacquelyn, with some cleaning at their home on Perry Hilltop, then went to visit friends.

Police believe that he was waiting for the last bus from the Homewood Station inbound when he was attacked and killed.

"These people took away from his friends and family that we can never regain back - ever."

Chelse's Aunt Cyndi felt like a second mother to Omar and his brother.

Omar's final facebook post to his brother Samir is funny and says: "I'm soooooooo lovin' my Dr. Scholl's Insoles."

Omar would have celebrated his 22nd birthday this week.

Arrangements for Omar are being handles by the "Robinson Funeral Home" on Perrysville Avenue.

They are still not complete.
