Former Steelers T Max Starks Is Ready In Case The Call Comes

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) - Every time there is an injury to the Steelers' offensive line, one of the first calls made has been to former OT Max Starks. He joined the Fan Morning Show on Wednesday morning to fill us in on whether or not he has heard from the Steelers.

"Nothing," Starks said. "No contact with the Steelers."

Starks says he is not surprised that he hasn't heard anything form the Steelers.

"They drafted two guys pretty high," Starks said. "They don't see me as an option for the future."

He does expect to get a call from another team. Starks says he has a unique skill set that could help a team. He continues to work and train every day so he will be ready when the call comes.

Starks has been cut a couple of times this season, including a stop with the St. Louis Rams. He said that was a numbers game. He was in for a guy on suspension so when he returned he was the first one out because he was the last one hired.

He is not sure what the Steelers thought of his time here, but he felt like he played to the best of his availability. He said when you play offensive line you play more for the admiration of your teammates than anyone else. He said the response was positive from his teammates.

One teammate that has always been in Starks' corner has been Ben Roethlisberger. Does Max think he has put in a good word for him again?

"(Laughs) I'm sure he probably has, but at the end of the day, it's not his decision or mine," Starks said.
