Uniontown Man Takes Police On Wild Chase Through Fayette Co.

UNIONTOWN (KDKA) -- Late Monday night, State Police were in the process of filing charges against a Uniontown man accused of fleeing from troopers and ramming their patrol cars.

Cpl. Thomas Casselberry told KDKA's Kym Gable that 23-year-old Gerel Issac Monroe would be charged with aggravated assault and fleeing and eluding.

It started late Monday afternooon near Pershing Court in Uniontown.

Two state troopers tried to stop the vehicle for an expired inspection, but the driver took off.

The pursuit traveled through Uniontown, then Union Township, and ended in Georges Township, Fayette County on busy State Route 43.

Troopers say Monroe was speeding south in the northbound lanes.

They say Monroe rammed their patrol cars before crashing and fleeing the vehicle.

They caught up with him and took him into custody. He was taken to the hospital for observation and was expected to be transported to jail late Monday.
