Boy Refuses To Leave Pope's Side During Vatican Event

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - A little boy stole the show at the Vatican over the weekend after he climbed on stage to greet Pope Francis and wouldn't leave.

Pope Francis was meeting Catholic families from around the world as part of Family Day celebrations, when a curious little boy in a striped yellow shirt found his way onto the stage.

He picked up Pope Francis' cross kissed it and the pope chuckled.

It seemed like the little guy was ready to leave, but he was just getting started.

He ended up hanging out by the pope's side.

When one of the bishops tried to have him sit back down with the other children, the little boy was having none of it.

He stood by the pope and watched as he greeted families on stage.

He then decided to chip in and lend a hand to the pope's staff by escorting a little girl to meet the pope.

A little later, he still wouldn't leave the pope's side, even when one of the staff members offered him candy.

The little guy was on the top of the world enjoying his moment in the sun. He even briefly sat down in the pope's chair while he addressed the crowd.
