1 Man Wounded In Shootout Inside Wilkinsburg Barber Shop

WILKINSBURG (KDKA) -- Police are looking for two suspects following a shootout that left one man injured inside of a barber shop on a busy stretch of road in Wilkinsburg Thursday afternoon.

The incident happened around 2:30 p.m. inside of Meachez Y2 Kutz's shop on the 100-block Wood Street at the corner of Wallace Avenue.

The gunfire left a huge hole in the glass at the front of the shop.

According to officials, the victim came into the shop and sat down for a haircut when, a short time later, the two suspects entered.

KDKA's Christine D'Antonio Reports:

Authorities say an argument ensued and the shooting started.

The victim was struck by a bullet, but had a gun and returned fire.

"It's really too close to home," said Dre Hall, the barber shop manager. "It's right here and it's crazy, and we just gotta be on our guard now."

The two suspects ran from the store and got into a maroon or red-colored minivan, which then took off down Wallace Avenue.

Police are now searching for those two men.

"We know there's two young, black males dressed in all dark clothing," said Lt. Andrew Schurman, of Allegheny County Police.

The barber was not injured in the gunfire.

The shop's owner says before the first bullet fired he hit the ground and fell down the stairs and ran out of the door. He says he heard 10 to 12 rounds.

"I just hear him say, 'Hold up, hold up,' you know what I mean, and once I heard him say that I knew that something was coming," the owner of Meachez Y2 Kutz said. "It was that fast. I gotta out of there. I went to where I knew I was safe at, and it took a lot to get there because the bullets was ringing."

KDKA's Mary Robb Jackson Reports:

The victim was taken to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital where he is listed in critical condition.

Police have not yet identified the victim or suspects.
