Girl Hospitalized After Trick-Or-Treating Brawl In West View

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Five people are being cited and a girl was treated at the hospital Thursday night after a brawl broke out during trick-or-treating in West View.

Police in West View say everyone involved in the fight is going to be cited in the chaotic incident.

According to police, the girl who was injured was trick-or-treating with her brother and sisters when it all started.

KDKA's Harold Hayes Reports:

She went to a home to get candy where police say she has an ongoing dispute with another girl. They know each other from school.

Authorities say the girl and her siblings were ordered off the porch; they left but then a fight broke out. Police say both girls are 16, and the brawl involved several people.

"She had ran over and they both started fighting. Then, her brother jumped in and started punching my sister," the injured girl's little brother said. "Then, her mom came down and started punching her, too. And she smacked her."

The injured teen may have a possible concussion.

She was treated and released from Allegheny General Hospital late Thursday night.

While the family of the girl treated says they can't see why members of the other family don't face more serious charges, the other family has told police the teenaged girls have a history based on texts and Internet posts. The family of the girl who was treated says they have no such history.

West View Chief Bruce Fromlak told KDKA's Harold Hayes by phone that since there was no independent eyewitness his department consulted with the Allegheny County District Attorney's Office and were told to cite all involved with disorderly conduct and let a local district justice hear the evidence and decide what should happen next.
