Mercer County Crash Leaves 1 Dead

SANDY LAKE TOWNSHIP (KDKA) – One person was killed in two-vehicle accident Saturday afternoon in Mercer County.

According to police, the accident happened at the intersection of Booher and Sandy Lake Polk Roads in Sandy Lake Township around 3:45 p.m.

Ryan Voorhees, 37, of Franklin Township was traveling through the intersection when he was hit on the driver's side by another vehicle.

Voorhees' vehicle went off the road and rolled onto the driver's side before coming to rest.

According to police, Elise Welton, 27, failed to stop at a stop sign prior to the accident.

Welton and two 5-year0old passengers suffered minor injuries. Welton was wearing a seatbelt and the children were properly restrained in their child safety seats.

Voorhees was not wearing a seatbelt and was killed in the crash.
