Beaver Restaurant Sold After Being Featured On Reality Show

BEAVER (KDKA) - The town of Beaver was buzzing two summers ago, when Chef Gordon Ramsay came to town.

The Fox program "Kitchen Nightmares" focused on Levanti's Italian Restaurant.

Chef Ramsay unleashed his fury on the owners and the staff. Then, his team updated the décor, and changed the restaurant's name to the American Bistro.

"It needs to embed itself in the community again," Ramsay said during a break in taping in June of 2012. "You know what? Right now, we're making some major changes. There's always hope."

Some customers liked the new look. Others preferred the old Italian menu. In any case, 16 months after Chef Ramsay's visit, Levanti's has been sold.

The new owner, Rich Montini, was executive chef at PNC Park.

"It's an historic building," he said. "It was built in 1890. There's a lot of opportunity for good things to come in this place."

The remodeled restaurant is about to be remodeled.

"We're going to paint these walls," Montini said. "We're going to brighten it up a little bit. These two areas right by the front door are going to be separated a little bit for more of a private dining area and more, just part of the dining room."

He said the name will be changed to Heirloom Restaurant.

"We're going to change the menu at least four times a year," he said. "And the menu's going to be based on what's in season, whatever we get in fresh, whatever we get in local."

Would Chef Montini be interested in having a show of his own?

"If somebody's out there willing to do it, give me a call," he said.
