STEELERS HUDDLE "Heinz Red Zone Recipe": Peachy BBQ Wings

Basting Sauce:

  • ½ cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon onion salt
  • 2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/3 cup Heinz® Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 2 cups Heinz® Jalapeño Ketchup
  • 1 cup peach preserves, puréed
  • 2 tablespoons Lea & Perrins® Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 3 tablespoons butter, cubed and well chilled

3 pounds chicken wings ~ cut in half at the joint ~ tips removed and discarded

Directions:
In a medium saucepan, combine all the ingredients for the sauce except the butter. Bring to a boil, stirring to dissolve the sugar. Reduce the heat and simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. With a whisk, blend in the butter cubes, a couple at a time, until incorporated.

Spread the wings in a single layer on a heavy baking pan. Bake the wings in a preheated 425 degree oven - uncovered - for 25 minutes. Midway through the baking process, baste the wings liberally with the sauce. They should be cooked through and golden brown.

Serve immediately and pass any additional sauce separately.

Serves: 8 as a snack
