Authorities Investigate Possible Pipe Bomb In Hazelwood

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Police and the Bomb Squad were called Hazelwood, where a possible pipe bomb was located.

It was found at the Duquesne Light Substation at Longhorn Street, after it was spotted by a Duquesne Light security guard.

Around 8 p.m., officials were able to safely detonate the device after taking x-rays. They later took it to the lab for tests.

"It definitely looked like a suspicious device," said an official at the scene. "Like a -- something similar to a pipe bomb."

There were no evacuations and no one was hurt.

Stay with KDKA for more information.
