Playstation 4 Expected To Be Hot Item This Christmas Season

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- People were standing in lines Thursday evening to get what could be one of the hottest items for Christmas: Sony's Playstation 4.

There were about 50 people outside the GameStop store in Ross Township to pick the new game console when it's released at midnight.

David Drewery showed up at 9:30 a.m.

"This Playstation 4, it's the future. Everyone in America is going to want this console," said Drewery. "It's going to be sold out everywhere."

Pittsburgh Post-Gazette "Game Guy" Max Parker already has a PS 4, and says it's a big step up from the PS 3, with far superior graphics.

So, is it worth the $399.99 price tag?

"Well, it depends what kind of gamer you are," said Parker. "If you're huge fan of the Playstation brand and like everything they do, you're going to be happy."

People outside the GameStop were brought inside at 6 p.m. and given tickets to tell them what order to stand in line again before midnight.

As for whether you'll be able to get one before Christmas, Parker says the supply and demand situation will become clearer after this first initial wave of customers.

By the way, the Xbox One will be released next week.
