BOYCE PARK (KDKA) – The Boyce Park ski slopes open Friday.

There’s already plenty of snow on the slopes after hiring the snow making crew from Seven Springs.

And County Executive Rich Fitzgerald was happy to have the slopes open.

“We will have snow making operations that are already underway, already made the snow ready for the year to begin,” he said. “And that’s so much different than past years, in which we did not open sometimes until mid-January.”

The slopes opening earlier will also mean more revenue for the county.

And non-county residents will have to pay additional fees this year to use the slopes.
