Penguins Sign Zatkoff To 2-Year Extension
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Penguins' backup goaltender Jeff Zatkoff has signed a two-year contract extension with the team.
The Penguins announced the deal, which has an average annual value of $600,000, Saturday morning. It begins next season and runs through the 2015-2016 season.
Zatkoff, 26, is a native of Detroit, Mich.
He has posted a 6-2 record with a 2.46 GAA and a .912 save percentage this season filling in as backup after Tomas Vokoun underwent a procedure to dissolve a blood clot just before the start of the season.
Zatkoff was originally drafted by the Los Angeles Kings in 2006.
He played last season with the Pens' AHL affiliate, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
Before being drafted, Zatkoff played college hockey at Miami University of Ohio from 2005-2008.
