2-Alarm Fire Damages Wilkinsburg Apartment Building

WILKINSBURG (KDKA) - Two families have been displaced after an apartment building fire in Wilkinsburg overnight.

According to officials at the scene, the fire broke out in the 200-block of Rebecca Avenue shortly after midnight.

The fire was on the second floor of the building and firefighters said the flames were shooting through the roof when they arrived.

There were initially reports that someone was trapped in the building but when firefighters got there, everyone was out of the building.

There are no reported injuries, but two families had to find another place to stay when all was said and done.

"It's four-unit apartment building. We will have at least two families displaced for the evening," City of Pittsburgh Assistant Fire Chief Tom Cook said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
