Cold, Snow Moves Into Pittsburgh Region

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - The latest round of winter weather began moving into the area overnight.

On top of the falling temperatures this morning, rain moved through the area, which has since changed over to snow.

There have been some flurries moving around and there could be icing on roadways as a result of the wet roads and dropping temperatures.

Pittsburgh Public Schools announced that all schools will be closed Tuesday due to cold weather.

At 9 a.m., Allegheny County officials will hold a press conference to discuss the plan for any weather-related emergencies that may arise over the next couple of days.

The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Chill Warning that will remain in effect until Wednesday.

"Even if someone doesn't have a health problem, you can get very cold very fast. You skin can get cold. Any exposed skin after a few minutes in very harsh temperatures and wind can start to get frostbite," Dr. Lenny Weiss said.

There are several school delays around the area as a result of the cold. For the complete list, click here.
