Suspect In Custody, Another Still Sought In Waterfront Homicide

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A teenager is now in police custody, charged in a fatal shooting in the parking lot of a fast food restaurant at The Waterfront.

Jaron Young, 17, of Penn Hills, has been charged with homicide, conspiracy and several other crimes stemming from Wednesday night's fatal shooting of 20-year-old Imani Porter of Point Breeze.

The shooting took place outside the Steak 'n Shake restaurant at The Waterfront.

Young, and another man who is still being sought, were in the car with Porter and two unidentified men when an alleged drug deal was being consummated.

According to court documents, Porter handed several bricks of heroin to Young when the suspect and the man who was with him both pulled out guns.

Porter was shot in the head.

Porter later died at UPMC Mercy Hospital.

The victim's father found it nearly impossible to describe his reaction to his son's death.

"I've been crying all night, been crying when I woke up," said Jibril Abdul-Hafith, Porter's father. "There's a hole in my heart."

A criminal complaint quotes one witness as saying Porter had allegedly started selling heroin and was reportedly looking for buyers.
