Baseball America Ranks Pirates Farm System Number One

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - According to the Indianapolis Indians website, Baseball America's yearly ranking of all the minor league systems in Major League Baseball will have the Pirates at the top of the list for the first time in their 33-year history.

Baseball America cites the high-end talent the Pirates' minor league system possesses in such players as AAA pitcher Jameson Taillon and outfielder Gregory Polanco.

What may make the ranking even more impressive is that the Pirates' minor leagues graduated starter Gerrit Cole to the majors as he was ranked as one of the top players in all of the minor leagues last year.

You can also find Pirates GM Neal Huntington's comments on the acquirement in the above article.

When it comes to the Pirates Major League roster, there are still some holes left to be filled and questions answered about players returning to the team, specifically Starter AJ Burnett.  For the latest on his situation, be sure to check out The FAN Morning Show's interview with Pirates Pitching Coach Ray Searage in which he says he doesn't expect Burnett to return.
