Greensburg Fatal Domestic Dispute Investigation Continues

GREENSBURG (KDKA) - The residents of a Westmoreland County apartment complex were shaken after a domestic dispute turned deadly Sunday.

A man sliced a woman's throat and attempted to get away, but police were forced to take lethal action.

Today, there are still a lot of unanswered questions after a tragic weekend in Greensburg.

Yesterday, Pennsylvania State Police rushed to the Hempfield Towers after getting a frantic 911 call from a man who witnessed a murder.

"He heard some kind of dispute out in the hallway. He had gone out there and recognized the woman as his neighbor and she seemed to be in distress and shortly after he had walked out to the hallway that's when Mr. Golden had grabbed a knife and came out in the hallway and cut across her throat - a severe laceration," Trooper Steve Limani said.

Rodney Golden, 41, was the man with the knife. His girlfriend, 56 year old Anita Sabol was the victim.

According to sources, the two had a long history of domestic violence.

"I was really on pins and needles and upset about this," John Smartnick said.

Golden tried to flee the scene, but was confronted outside by police. When he allegedly lunged at an officer, a fatal shot was fired.

"I could tell you there [were] several Taser deployments that took place. We're gathering that information," Trooper Limani said.

The info we may never know is what caused the argument that lead to two lives being lost.

"It's frightening and all I could do was just pray for everybody involved," Darlene Kemerer said.

Autopsies were scheduled to be conducted Monday morning and State Police are planning a news conference for this afternoon.
