Mother Arrested After Leaving 3 Children Home Alone

EAST HILLS (KDKA) – A woman was arrested Thursday morning after allegedly leaving her three children home alone in the East Hills.
The house in the 2200-block of Wilner Drive bustles with kids.

But on Thursday morning, Pittsburgh Police say they got a call that one of those kids was hanging from a second-floor window without a shirt.

When police arrived, the boy's mother, Markale Williams, was arriving there, too.

She explained to police she was just coming back from the school bus stop with her 7-year-old. A stop that's few blocks away at East Hills and Wilner drives.

Police later determined she had been gone about 30 minutes.

Williams told police there were no adults inside, only a 3-year-old, a 2-year-old and an infant.

When police went inside the home to investigate, they found filthy conditions.

An investigating officer said the kitchen was deplorable. Trash and dirty diapers were all over the floor. There were also flies in the house.

The 2-year-old was sleeping on the floor and the 8-month-old on the couch.

Upstairs, police found window blinds pushed off to the side, a nightstand next to the window and there were small child-sized fingerprints on the window.

Police also saw a 1-year-old without a shirt, matching the caller's earlier description.

All three children were taken to Children's Hospital to be evaluated and Williams was handcuffed and placed under arrest. That's when she told police she was seven months pregnant.
