Avella Man Shot In Head During Fight, Woman Charged

AVELLA (KDKA) -- An Avella woman is facing a long list of charges after state police say a late-night domestic dispute in Washington County ended with a man getting shot in the head.

The incident happened around 10:15 p.m. Friday on Hill Street in Crosscreek Township.

State police have charged 26-year-old Tracy Chechuck with criminal attempt homicide, aggravated assault and recklessly endangering another person.

According to investigators, it all started when Chechuck's fiancé, Lowe Hawkins, Jr., and the shooting victim, Louis Ruscello, got into a fight.

State police say Chechuck is accused of using a .45 caliber handgun to shoot Ruscello.

He suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was flown from the scene by medical helicopter to a hospital in Pittsburgh for treatment. There's been no word on his condition.

Police say Ruscello was a friend and was staying with the couple.

Chechuck was arrested, arraigned and is now been held in the Washington County Jail.

State police continue to investigate.
