Local Mom Waives DUI Charges To Court

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A local mother, accused of driving drunk with her baby in the backseat, was in court this morning for a hearing.

Meagan Smith, of Center Township, waived all charges to court.

Police pulled Smith over last fall in Allepo Township after authorities say a passing motorist spotted her driving erratically.

Police say Smith was weaving back and forth across the yellow line when they caught up with her.

According to police, Smith had her 8-month-old daughter with her and they also found an open bottle of tequila on the floor.

Investigators said field sobriety and blood alcohol tests showed Smith to be well in excess of the legal limit.

Smith was charged with fleeing police, driving under the influence and endangering the welfare of her child.
