Police Search For Suspect After Hempfield Attempted Luring

WESTMORELAND COUNTY (KDKA) -- Michelle Quinn showed us the spot in the Green Hills Trailer Park in Hempfield Township, Westmoreland County, where her 9-year-old daughter says a man pulled up in car as the girl was riding her bike.

"He asked her if she wanted an ice cream cone," said Quinn. "He had one and offered it to her and she told him no."

The girl picked up the story from there: "He threw the ice cream in the back of the car, and then he tried to grab me."

She says the man got out of his car, but she moved away and ran into her nearby home.

Quinn says her 11-year-old son was also nearby, but the man just drove past him.

"Very frightening, 'cause I could have lost my daughter," said Quinn.

The incident allegedly happened on Saturday.

A woman in another part of the trailer park believes she saw the same man, same car, two days before.

"He kept riding past real slow. About four times and he just scared me real bad," said the woman who did not want to be identified.

Police have released a sketch of the suspect. They say he is 5 feet 5 inches tall and in his late 40s or early 50s, driving an older white Chrysler Sebring with a black roof.

Quinn says her daughter is still upset: "She's just afraid."

Anyone with information is asked to State Police at the Greensburg barracks.
